Rice Crispy Treats are one of the easiest treats to make. This version takes it up another notch for Halloween by making them in the likeness of Frankenstein’s Monster. They’re still just as easy, but they’ll make a bigger impact at your Halloween party!

Ingredients

  • 18 oz (510 g) Marshmallows
  • 6 tbsp. (85 g) Unsalted Butter (cut into 6 pieces)
  • 1 pinch Kosher Salt
  • Green Food Coloring
  • 9 cups (260 g) Crispy Rice Cereal
  • Black Candy Melts

Instructions

  1. Line a 13x9x2 inch pan with foil and spray with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, place marshmallows, butter and salt.
  3. Microwave for 1 minute and stir.
  4. Continue to microwave and stir in 1 minute increments until marshmallows and butter are completely melted and incorporated together.
  5. Add enough food coloring to get the desired shade of green.
  6. Add in crispy rice cereal and quickly but carefully stir until evenly combined.
  7. Press mixture firmly into prepared pan with a rubber spatula coated in cooking spray.
  8. Place in refrigerator to cool completely.  At least 30 minutes.
  9. Lift the foil with the cooled treats out of the pan.
  10. Cut treats into 15 equally sized bars (3x5).
  11. Decorate the top and sides of each bar with melted candy melts to look like Frankenstein's Monster's hair.
  12. Add two horizontal straight lines in the lower half of the treats to appear like closed eyes.
  13. Add a sewn scar between the eyes and hair of the treats.
  14. Allow candy melts to completely set and then serve treats.
