A fantastic icing for decorating cakes, cookies, and even gingerbread houses! This basic icing hardens when dry so it makes a great building material and holds a design very well.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups (520 g) Powdered Sugar
  • 3 tbsp. (27 g) Meringue Powder
  • 5-8 tbsp. (74-120 mL) Water

Instructions

  1. In the bowl of a stand mixer, place all ingredients starting with the smallest amount of water.
  2. Using the whisk attachment, whisk ingredients to combine.
  3. Add more water until mixture forms the consistency of a regular buttercream frosting.
  4. At this point place the mixer on medium high and whisk for 5 minutes.  Icing should double in size and be very thick.
  5. If too thick for your use, add a little water at a time while mixing until it reaches the desired consistency.
  6. If too thin for your use, add a little powdered sugar at a time while mixing until it reaches the desired consistency.
